The
Synthesis Midi Workshop provides a variety of music technology
in-Services
for school districts. These are available all year long and can be
held at either the Mike Klinger Music Technology Retreat
in Carson, WA ( 50 miles east of Portland, OR) or onsite at the
school district's facility. A portable computer lab makes it easy for
a hands on workshop at the school district's facility. The lab is a 12
station lab and can accommodate up to 24 students with students
doubled up.
In-services held at the
Mike Klinger Music Technology Retreat (pictured here) will host a
12 station computer lab loaded with all available music software's.
Each computer station is equipped with "state of the art"
midi and digital audio software/hardware. Lunch is provided on site for the 1 day
in-services. Enrollment is limited to 12 students only. Lodging can be
obtained at local area hotels if needed. Please contact us for a
complete list with special rates.
In-Services held at the school district facility will be provided with the same 12 station
portable computer
lab system that is in the Mike Klinger Music
Technology Retreat. Students are usually doubled up with a maximum of 24 allowed. Two special custom cases make moving the
entire lab a snap. The school district needs
simply to provide the classroom, tables and chairs, and of course help
in setting things up and tearing things down.
"Using
Technology to Complete the CBPA's"
Washington state
music teachers are required by law to implement Classroom Based
Performance Assessments (CBPA's) to all 5, 8, and 10th
grade music students beginning in January 2008. The focus of this 1
day in-service is to demonstrate ways of using music technology to
complete this task. Teachers will input an original composition into a
computer (provided) using Sibelius software, printout the piece,
perform it "live" and have that performance video taped. The
video is then imported back into Sibelius so that both
the original composition and the video of the performance may be
viewed (assessed) at the same time. A master copy of the
course text is mailed to the district and copies are made for each
attending participant.
"Composing
Music with a Computer"
This 1 day in-service explores the
workings of either Sibelius or Finale music composing
software's and is based on the district's choice. A series of in class assignments are given,
each designed to learn a specific aspect of the program (ie. lead
sheet, SATB, instrumental score with extracted parts, transposing, vocal with lyrics, etc). This is an extremely popular workshop with
educators and is designed to accommodate the requirements of the K-12
National Standards. A master copy of the
course text is mailed to the district and copies are made for each
attending participant.
"Digital
Audio Recording Using Pro Tools"
This 1 day hand on workshop
focus's on how to record your band/choir, or individual student works
using Pro Tools software. Learn how to: record, edit, mix, add
effects like reverb, normalize, and burn
the finished product to CD. The workshop is designed to accommodate the
requirements of the K-12 National Standards. Optional college credit
or clock hours are available. A master copy of the
course text is mailed to the district and copies are made for each
attending participant.
"Music
Technology in
the Classroom"
This 1 day in-service explores and demonstrates several
music technologies available in music education. Students will preview
various music software's and technologies in: music sequencing,
notation, theory and ear training, digital audio, improvisation,
and others. This is a great workshop to be able to preview various
software's and evaluate for curriculum adoption purposes.
All software previewed meets the requirements
of the K-12 National Standards. A master copy of the
course text is mailed to the district and copies are made for each
attending participant.
