I came to the Synthesis Midi Workshop already having produced one CD but had many questions and the desire to find upgraded software and more efficient ways to achieve my recording goals. Mike is always up on all the new cool toys and technology and I was not disappointed. What made it even better was the pristine setting coupled with the warm hospitality of Mike and Linda. Thank you.

Dear Mike,

Thank you for arranging your schedule so that I could take a private Music Technology session at the end of May 2006. I learned so much and this private setting was perfect for my needs. Mike, I appreciate very much your direct approach to teaching and problem solving. Because of your vast experience (and excellent internet connections), there's just no wasted time. I found our workshop to be very informative and inspirational. All of my questions (then and ongoing) have been answered intelligibly and succinctly. My free afternoons in Carson were "just what the Doctor ordered" after a year of teaching and an intensive week of inventory and packing of everything for a move to our new music facility. ALL the stress melted away in the Carson Hot Springs Bath (with massage included). I highly recommend this experience to all.

Sincerely,
Joan

Mike - First, thanks so much for a fantastic week. Absolutely a joy to take your class and I really enjoyed everyone's company a great deal. Fun stuff all the way. I'm really astonished at all that we learned in your class - the depth of what we covered in a short time. I can't wait to get rolling on Pro-tools. Thanks for everything!

Mike, I want to thank you very much for the intensive 2-day one-on- one course that I took with you on Sibelius 4 and Digital Performer 4.6.   What I was most impressed with was your facility with both programs and most especially with your ability to quickly find the answers to the various problems that inevitably cropped up.  I am much more facile now, especially in Sibelius, and I have become much more productive in writing and arranging music for my choir and for the various instrumentalists I use.  It was well worth the cost and I am saving my pennies to do a second seminar with you soon.  On a personal note, your studio is beautiful and the mountains and the scenery made for some relaxing and introspective down time. Once again, thank you for your graciousness, your very organized teaching and mentoring and most importantly, your  flexibility in tailoring your course to meet my specific performance  and educational needs.

Sincerely,

Anthony Rimore

Mike,

Wanted to let you know that things are running smoothly in my new class, thanks to your coaching. The brief time I had at your studio was a gold mine. We have had some hardware problems in the lab. Without your ideas and materials to support me, I would have been really at sea trying to solve too many things at once! Thanks.

Mike,

I just wanted to thank you for your help with the Teaching Music with Reason package. The copy arrived here today. I teach a class in Technology in Music Education and just today we were discussing where to find resources and materials, support, etc. I hope you don't mind but I used you today as what I consider a terrific example of a dealer helping me get what I need even if it doesn't directly benefit you. That kind of help and support can be hard to find sometimes and I want you to know that I really appreciate it.

Music Private study August 2004 Matt Hirschfelder-Hoquiam High School. I asked Mike to help our school district purchase some new music software and equipment. clearly, his prices beat other competitors and he has the back ground to know what problems could occur before they do. I wanted to learn Pro Tools (recording audio) and Band in a Box (composition, playback and more) software. I had previous experience with both programs yet, still needed someone to bounce ideas off of. He not only taught great short cuts and additional tools (I didn't kow existed) he helped me process ideas for my students to integrating music and technology. Teach the kids the tools and guide them to create and experiment. My choir kids record and sing their part right into the computer for voice tests. I can listen to an individual voice, a section, or the whole ensemble. Play it back for the group and we can identify exactly what our mistakes are. Mike Klinger's lessons helped me to use the technology I already had and helped me to know exactly what I needed to work on. And by the way...man can his wife Linda Cook!

August 20, 2004 I just returned home from a great two days of learning. I went with 100 questions about the various programs I use in my teaching and came home with 100 answers. Mike's knowledge and understanding of what it takes to use MIDI as a complete musician is outstanding. The setting is beautiful, the studio/lab is great and thanks to MIke I have a greater understanding of the programs and my own equipment. Mike and Linda are so gracious in their hospitality as well. I enjoyed the time with them in their home and the valuable time working with Mike and on my own on various programs. Every music teacher should have the classes offered by Mike. Thank you both. Mike -- your Sibelius 3 workshop was everything I needed and wanted it to be. I learned the things I needed to know for the projects I have at hand, which was most important. I was inspired with other types of projects that are made incredibly accessible with this wonderfully intuitive software as well. Thanks so much for a great week!

Mike-- Thanks for the new online question service! It's just what I needed right now, as I'm under some time pressure, & this helps me get through the next couple of days, as I'm staffing a couple of camps & conferences in the next month.

I had a wonderful 2 days in a private workshop last year. After a 8-hour drive from Vancouver BC. I was delighted to learn more about Sibelius and how to think midi. Over the past year I have managed to use this knowledge to enhance my music writing and actually perform a one-person act with piano, voice and midi background that Mike taught me. I do hope to return this year to learn more about the upgrades over the past year.I hope all you music teachers are aware of what joy you bring to children who learn a little music through you. It’s when we get over 50 that what you introduced to us as children really pays off. . Congratulations to you all who give us the gift of being able to make, enjoy and understand how truly important a friend music is to us. Sincerely yours Bruce Ward.

I just returned from a two day one-on-one workshop with Mike in Carson, Washington, and want to encourage any of you who are thinking of taking a class, that you will come away from the workshop having learned even more than you had hoped to. You will not find a person more qualified to teach these classes than Mike Klinger. This is the fourth technology class that I have taken with Mike over a period of about 7 years, and I can't begin to express my gratitude to him for helping me to overcome the learning curve and develop confidence as I developed proficiency and became more comfortable using music technology. If I can do it, then anyone can!! What makes Mike so special, is that he is an experienced musician, and understands the musical mind, he is totally knowledgeable about the music software programs that he teaches, and best of all - he is able to communicate this knowledge in a patient and sequential way that even novices can make sense of! Having ALL of these skills is a rare combination indeed! I have learned to use sequencing programs, burn CD's, implement technology in my classroom, create my own sheet music and choral arrangements using notation software, and so much more. If you have an opportunity to attend a session at the retreat in Carson, Washington, you will be in for a treat! The natural setting is breathtaking, and Linda and Mike are such gracious hosts! If you have ANY questions, and are considering taking a workshop, I will be more than happy to share my experiences with you and answer any of your questions! Mike and Linda - thanks so much for everything!!!

Thank you, Mike Klinger, for 3 days of invaluable information regarding resources, knowledge, skills, and for having fun! I flew half-way around the world to be at this workshop, and would do it again in an instant. I now feel prepared to set up a computer lab for my students where they will be able to learn musical skill interactively, as well as create, compose, and record their own music. In a world where music is becoming more and more technological, the information and resources that you have helped me acquire are necessary as a Music Teacher. I really liked that you left the workshop open-ended, and I could "construct" the course in a way that was suitable to the learning that I wanted to do. If only every music teacher in Africa could have this experience! Sincerely, Shannon MacLachlan, elementary Music Teacher, International School of Tanganyika, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. I just returned from a wonderful, stimulating, exciting and yet relaxing weekend at Mike Klinger's Music Technology Retreat in Carson, Washington. The surroundings there are simply stunning. We saw a four point buck standing outside the window of the log cabin facility. Mike and his wife, Linda, are wonderful and welcoming hosts. The room was first class. The food was wonderful. It truly was a "retreat."

In my 20 years of being a music educator I have attended many, many classes and workshops but none have been as useful as this workshop. I am so excited about what I learned that I can hardly wait to return to work and share what I learned with my students.

I am excited to return to the retreat and take more classes and I would highly recommend any of Mike Klinger's classes to my colleagues.

I recently visited Mike and Linda at their beautiful retreat in Carson. I was able to spend time with his students on the last day of their Sibelius classes, and I was quite impressed with both the facility and the level of instruction. And of course, the setting is fantastic. Mike and Linda have truly created a music technology B&B!

When I attended the retreat this summer I had a wonderful time and learned a great deal about my new software. Mike's teaching style is relaxed and easy and he is an expert in the field. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to relax after working at the computer for most of the day. I highly recommend the retreat to anyone with questions about music technology.

The workshop given by Mike Klinger was most valuable, as well as the individual lesson times. He is most patient, and understands all there is to know about keyboards. He has a method of teaching that is easy to understand. When I get stumped with a problem, he is most kind to help, even over the phone. Thank you, Mike, for your generous help. Loretta Holstein

My name is Chris Angelos and teach at Ballard High School in Seattle, Washington. In August of 2001, I took the private study course at Mike's new retreat in Carson, WA. It was the best two days that I could have spent. The information that I received and the knowledge that Mike has on all the software is amazing. The hospitality by Mike and Linda was five star. I stayed in one of their guest rooms with my own personal bath, was fed outstanding cuisine and the company and conversation was stimulating and motivating. Mike is a master in the field of music technology and any music educator looking at starting a class in midi or just needing a fresh outlook on how to use the different software that is out their, Mike is the one to ask.

I don't think I've ever had a funner time learning technology than the one-on-one retreat. I recommend it to anyone who wants to be more competent in the field of music education technology. The retreat is beautiful and the food is excellent. I loved it.

Mike, I just wanted to tell you how terrific it was to have a Private one on one session with my own equipment and hundreds of questions that I wanted to ask but never had a venue to allow that kind of dialogue. My learning curve went off the charts from 2 days of intense fun!! I feel I can do those tech things now that I couldn't have done without working out the bugs with my own system/software/hardware. Thank-you for the great experience.
