Teaching Composition Using Technology

Designed to teach music teachers beginning concepts in music composition using music technology. This course combines both Level I and Level II into a 4 day workshop. The course is written in Powerpoint and given to each teacher on DVD so that teachers can modify it to fit their particular grade level, definitions, and teaching style thus leaving it totally open ended in concept. Level I course content presents compositional concepts and is followed up with movie presentation tutorials (Sibelius).
Level II immediately departs on the study of units of structure in music (form). Harmonic content, chord progressions, cadences, and more advanced tips for good melodic writing are covered.
The technology being used can be either Sibelius, Finale, Encore, Noteflight or any other music notation software as it is generic in nature. Designed to align with the Washington State CBPA's.
